Mary Kay Ash appears as a judge on the 37th Annual MISS USA® Pageant in 1988.
As a change champion and groundbreaking businesswoman, Mary Kay Ash dedicated her life to empowering women. So, it was no surprise when she was asked to be a judge at the 37th Annual MISS USA® Pageant in 1988.
The pageant was televised live from the El Paso Civic Center in El Paso, Texas on March 1, 1988. It was the first time the pageant was held in Texas, the home state of Mary Kay Ash and where she first changed the world of business by creating more opportunities for women. In the final stage of the competition, Courtney Gibbs of Texas was crowned MISS USA®, becoming the fourth consecutive winner from Texas.
Today, the Miss Universe Organization is a global, inclusive organization that celebrates women of all cultures and backgrounds. MISS UNIVERSE®, MISS USA®, and MISS TEEN USA® provide the approximately 10,000 women who participate annually an international platform to effect positive change personally, professionally and philanthropically as inspirational leaders and role models.
Mary Kay Ash launched her business more than 56 years ago, but she continues to be a role model and source of inspiration for millions worldwide. Her lifetime of achievements made her a trailblazing entrepreneur, and her lasting legacy has made her an icon.
