Dallas, March 8, 2012 – Atlanta’s Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV) is one of the many recipients of cosmetics giant Mary Kay’s generosity and help. Not only will PADV dedicate a master planned Nature Explore Classroom funded by Mary Kay, but also Mary Kay employees will volunteer service hours to PADV in honor of International Women’s Day.

Mary Kay is making a beautiful difference by helping neighbors in need to celebrate International Women’s Day, commemorated on March 8, 2012. Thousands of “Mary Kay family members” in more than 35 countries will lend a hand to fellow citizens in their goal to donate one million hours of community service around the world in one month. Mary Kay employees, independent beauty consultants – as well as their family, friends and the general public – will join together to help others during the Mary Kay Global Month of Service, March 8-April 8, 2012.

PADV is one of only 13 domestic violence shelters in the United States to have a Nature Explore Classroom and the first women’s shelter in Atlanta to receive one. Nature Explore Classrooms are unique outdoor learning spaces that are specially designed to help children develop a profound connection with nature while healing from the trauma experienced from witnessing abuse in their homes.

Children who are currently residing at a women’s shelter with their mothers rarely get an opportunity to visit playgrounds, parks and zoos because of the precarious nature of protecting a mother and a child from a potential abuser. The Nature Explore Classroom at Partnership Against Domestic Violence will provide a fun and safe opportunity for kids staying at shelters to learn, play and heal.

“At Mary Kay, giving back and having a positive impact in our local communities is part of our organization’s DNA,” said Sheryl Adkins-Green, Executive Vice President of Mary Kay Inc. “We call it ‘Go-Give’ spirit, and we’re proud to continue our legacy of giving through the Mary Kay Global Month of Service.”
